Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 May 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Debty Telegram mini app and related websites (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
1. Who operates Debty
Debty is currently operated as an independent project without a separate legal entity. References in these Terms to “we”, “us” or “our” mean the individual developer(s) maintaining the Service.
The Service is hosted on infrastructure located in Germany. We aim to comply with applicable laws, including where relevant the laws of the European Union (such as the GDPR), the United States and CIS countries. Where mandatory local laws grant you additional rights, those rights remain unaffected.
2. Description of the Service
Debty is a Telegram mini app designed to help groups of people track and settle shared expenses, with optional paid add-ons. Key features include:
- Creating groups for trips, roommates, events and other use cases;
- Adding expenses, splitting them between group members using different split methods;
- Calculating balances and debts between users within a group;
- Storing user-defined payment methods (such as bank details or payment links) to help group members pay each other outside the Service;
- Converting currencies using third-party exchange rate data;
- An optional Debty Premium auto-renewing monthly subscription that unlocks additional features such as AI-powered receipt scanning, recurring expenses, spending charts, expense exports (PDF/CSV/JSON), an ad-free experience and a discount on eSIM purchases;
- Optional in-app purchases of international mobile data plans (eSIMs) supplied by a third-party eSIM provider, paid for with Telegram Stars.
Other than facilitating purchases of Debty Premium and eSIMs through Telegram Stars (as described in section 8), the Service does not hold or move money, process payments, or provide banking, investment or other regulated financial services. All settlements between users for shared expenses occur outside the Service (for example, via bank transfers, Revolut, PayPal or other tools chosen by users).
3. Eligibility
You may use the Service only if:
- You are at least 16 years old; and
- You have a valid Telegram account and comply with Telegram’s own terms and policies.
By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that you have the authority to enter into these Terms.
4. Your account and Telegram
The Service uses Telegram’s “init data” mechanism for authentication. We do not issue separate usernames or passwords. Your ability to access the Service therefore depends on your Telegram account.
Telegram is a separate service with its own terms, privacy policy and security practices. We are not responsible for Telegram or any third-party services you use to send or receive money (for example, your bank, Revolut, PayPal or similar providers).
5. User content and responsibilities
Within the Service you may provide information such as:
- Group names and emojis;
- Expense descriptions, amounts, currencies and dates;
- Information about who paid and who participated in each expense;
- Payment method details (for example, bank account information, Revolut or PayPal IDs, or custom payment links).
You are solely responsible for all information you provide. In particular, you agree that:
- You will only provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date;
- You will not provide information that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, misleading or that infringes the rights of others;
- You will ensure that you have the right to share any personal data of third parties that you enter into the Service (for example, when adding another person’s payment details or name);
- You will not use the Service to store sensitive data beyond what is reasonably necessary for tracking group expenses (for example, you should not store full card numbers, security codes or passwords).
6. No financial, tax or legal advice
The Service is a technical tool for tracking shared expenses and calculating suggested balances. It does not provide financial, tax or legal advice. Any suggested balances or settlement amounts are for convenience only and may not reflect all circumstances or local legal requirements.
You are solely responsible for:
- Agreeing with other group members how expenses will be split and settled;
- Any payments you make or receive outside the Service; and
- Any tax, accounting or legal obligations arising from your use of the Service.
7. Acceptable use
You must use the Service in a lawful and reasonable manner. You agree not to:
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except as permitted by law;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users’ data or our systems;
- Upload malicious code, scripts or automated tools (such as bots or scrapers) without our prior permission;
- Use the Service for spam, fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing or other illegal activities.
8. Advertising, Debty Premium, eSIM purchases and monetization
The core functionality of the Service (creating groups, adding and splitting expenses, tracking balances and recording settlements) is available free of charge. We monetize the Service in the following ways:
- Advertising: we may show non-personalized or contextual advertising inside the Service to users on the free tier. Where personalized or interest-based advertising is used, and applicable law (for example, in the EU/EEA) requires consent, we will request your explicit consent inside the Service before enabling such advertising.
- Debty Premium: we offer an optional paid subscription called “Debty Premium” that unlocks additional features, currently including AI-powered receipt scanning, recurring expenses, spending charts, expense exports (PDF/CSV/JSON), an ad-free experience and a discount on eSIM purchases. The set of features included in Debty Premium may change over time.
- eSIM purchases: users can buy international mobile data plans (eSIMs) inside the mini app as one-time purchases. eSIMs are provisioned and operated by a third-party eSIM provider (eSIMAccess) — see section 10 for more details.
Debty Premium is sold as an auto-renewing monthly subscription through Telegram’s in-app payment system using Telegram Stars. We do not store your card or banking details — payments are processed by Telegram in accordance with its own terms. Unless you cancel auto-renewal, your subscription will automatically renew approximately every 30 days at the then-current price, using Telegram Stars from your Telegram balance. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from within the mini app; you will retain access to Premium features until the end of the already-paid period, after which the subscription will end without further charge.
eSIM purchases are individual one-time transactions made through Telegram Stars. The price of each eSIM is determined at the time of purchase based on the underlying plan offered by our eSIM provider and the applicable conversion to Telegram Stars; prices, the catalog of available plans and any Premium-subscriber discounts may change over time. After purchase, the eSIM profile (including its activation code and QR code) is delivered to you inside the Service. Refunds for eSIM purchases are available only while an order has not yet been delivered to your device — once an eSIM profile has been issued or activated, refunds are generally not possible because the eSIM has already been provisioned by the third-party provider. We may also automatically refund an eSIM purchase if we are unable to provision the order at the provider within a reasonable time. Activation codes and QR codes are issued only once per order and we may be unable to recover them if you lose them; you are responsible for keeping the eSIM credentials you receive secure.
Telegram Stars purchases (including the first month of a Debty Premium subscription, each subsequent monthly renewal and individual eSIM purchases) are generally non-refundable once the corresponding goods or services have been provided, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country grant you a right of withdrawal or a similar right, or as described above for eSIM orders that have not yet been delivered. If you believe a refund is appropriate, please contact us via the Telegram support bot referenced below; refund requests handled by Telegram itself are subject to Telegram’s policies.
The features available on the free and Premium tiers, the catalog and pricing of eSIM plans, subscription prices and discount levels may change in the future. Where reasonably feasible, we will provide advance notice of material changes (for example, inside the mini app). Material changes that affect your existing Debty Premium subscription will take effect from the start of the next renewal period — you may cancel auto-renewal beforehand if you do not agree with the change.
9. Intellectual property
All rights, title and interest in and to the Service, including its code, design, logos and other content (excluding your own content and third-party trademarks), are owned by us or our licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Telegram®, Revolut®, PayPal® and any other third-party names or logos mentioned in the Service are trademarks of their respective owners. Use of such marks does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on certain third-party services, including:
- Telegram, to provide authentication, the mini app environment and the Telegram Stars payment system used for Debty Premium subscriptions and eSIM purchases;
- An exchange rate API provider, to obtain currency conversion rates;
- Google Gemini (an AI service operated by Google), used by the receipt-scanning feature available to Debty Premium subscribers, to extract line items, prices and taxes from receipt images that you upload; and
- Our eSIM provider (eSIMAccess), used to provision and operate the international mobile data plans (eSIMs) that you may purchase inside the Service. To fulfil your order we send the provider technical order data only (such as the order identifier, the chosen plan code and the price). We do not send the provider your Telegram identity, name, email, phone number, ID documents or device identifiers. The provider returns to us the information needed to deliver and operate your eSIM (such as the ICCID, activation code, QR code link and usage statistics).
Those services are provided under their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control. We are not responsible for any acts or omissions of such third parties. By using features that depend on a particular third party (for example, by uploading a receipt for AI scanning, subscribing to Debty Premium, or purchasing an eSIM with Telegram Stars), you acknowledge that the relevant third-party terms also apply. Device compatibility with eSIM technology and any data-usage limits, throttling or fair-use policies applied to a particular eSIM plan are determined by the eSIM provider and the user’s device, and are outside our control.
11. Service availability and changes
We strive to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. Where feasible, we will try to provide reasonable notice of material changes.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
In particular, we do not warrant that:
- The calculated balances or suggested settlements will be accurate, complete or suitable for your specific situation;
- The Service will be secure, error-free or available at all times; or
- Data losses will never occur (for example, due to hardware failures or network issues).
To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages; or
- Any loss of profits, business, data or goodwill,
arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
13. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service;
- Your breach of these Terms; or
- Your violation of any rights of another person or entity.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Service are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you may also have rights to bring claims in your country of residence under mandatory consumer protection laws. Nothing in these Terms limits those mandatory rights.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, within the mini app or via Telegram).
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms become effective will constitute your acceptance of them.
16. Contact
If you have any questions about these Terms or the Service, you can contact us via our Telegram support bot: @debty_app_support_bot .
